The spring FPTA recital will take place on Saturday, June 7, at 5:00, at Hensdale Chapel at Methodist University. FPTA members may submit up to three students for consideration in the recital by emailing Amanda Schafer at email@example.com no later than Sunday, June 1.
Fayetteville State University’s Piano Day will take place on Saturday, April 26. The event is open to piano students ages 12-17. Activities will include a recital by FSU faculty member Dr. Amanda Virelles, masterclasses, and a student recital. Registration for student participants is $25.00, due by April 15. The 2014 North Carolina Music Teachers Association State Conference will be held at Methodist University on October 16-19. Please check back later for more information regarding the conference.
The University of North Carolina-Wilmington is hosting Piano Day on Saturday, February 8th. Activities include performances by the UNCW faculty, UNCW student performances, master classes, and a jazz class. The event is open to students ages 12-17 and teachers. The 36th Annual Dr. Sharyn Edwards Piano Festival and Competition is scheduled for March 13-15, 2014 in Whiteville, NC. Students from kindergarten through college are eligible to enter. The annual FPTA competition will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The Honors’ Recital will be held on Saturday, May 10, at the Chapel at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Information regarding applications and repertoire requirements will be announced shortly.

The first FPTA meeting of the school year is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28th, at 9:00 am in the music lab at Methodist University (the music lab is located on the main floor of Reeves Auditorium building on the right side of the stage, by the lockers). We will be electing new board members, discussing repertoire for this year’s contest, and choosing dates for this year’s events.
