FSU Piano Day

Fayetteville State University is hosting its fourth annual Piano Day on Saturday, April 22, 2017. This event is open to piano students of the greater Fayetteville area.  The event will include a morning recital performed by the master class teachers and FSU faculty, masterclasses scheduled during the morning and afternoon, and will conclude with a student recital.  Lunch will be provided.  Interested parties should contact Dr. Amanda Virelles at avirelle@uncfsu.edu.  More information can also be found at their website, http://fsuarts.com/event/4th-annual-fsu-piano-day/.

FPTA 2017 Competition

The Fayetteville Piano Teachers Association’s annual piano competition is scheduled for May 20, 2017.  It will be held at Methodist University.  The Winners’ recital will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at 5:00p.m. at Hensdale Chapel at Methodist University.  All information regarding contest rules, repertoire requirements, and applications can be found here:

Piano Teacher Workshop

Music & Arts of Fayetteville is hosting an Alfred Piano Teacher Workshop on Tuesday, July 26, at 8:30-12:30.  Running this event will be clinician Gayle Kowalchyk, who serves as Alfred’s Senior Editor for Supplementary Piano Publications.  The event is free of charge to piano instructors, but RSVP is required.  Interested parties can RSVP by calling (910) 864-8808 or by emailing fayettevillemgr@musicarts.com.  More information concerning the event can be found on their website, http://stores.musicarts.com/fayetteville.

FPTA Competition this Saturday

The FPTA Competition is scheduled for this Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Reeves Fine Arts Building at Methodist University.  The competition is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.  The schedule for each contestant is listed below.  All contestants will need to sign in at the registration table, which will be located on the lower level hallway of Reeves Building, at the entrance adjacent to Hensdale Chapel.  We are asking each contestant to arrive fifteen minutes ahead of your scheduled playing time.  A limited number of practice rooms will be made available for warm-ups.  Please email fay.ncpianoteachers@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

American Guild of Organists Event

The Fayetteville-Sandhills Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is hosting a Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza event on Saturday, February 6th from 10:00am-12:30pm at First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. The event requires registration at www.firstprez.com, however there is no cost for this event. The organists in this community wish to share our love for the “King of Instruments,” and we welcome all who wish to learn more the beautiful instruments. We will tour the chapel and sanctuary pipe organs, and the students will have an opportunity to play the instruments.
